Man Said to Offer Uniformed Deputy Cocaine
Deputy Ed Johnson was in uniform. He was also sitting in his marked patrol car. So he was a bit surprised when a man approached Friday and allegedly offered to sell him some cocaine.
Michael Garibay walked up to Johnson's car at a Mobil gas station and asked the Orange County deputy if he was "straight," according to arrest records.
When Johnson replied he was, Garibay responded "Do you know what that means? .... It means do you want to buy some cocaine."
When Johnson said "yes," Garibay pulled out a plastic bag containing "several pieces of flat white rocks substances" and asked for cash, records show.
The deputy took the bag and arrested Garibay after the contents tested positive for cocaine, the Orlando Sentinel reported on its Web site.
Garibay was being held Friday in the Orange County Jail on $7,500 bail for alleged possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

I know this may sound strange.. coming from someone you don't know.
But I used to work with Mike for years... and he's not an idiot.. I can tell you that. This was very unlike Mike to do this. A lot of his co-workers insisted.. that this had to have been done on purpose.
He had just gone through a massive incident in his life.. that most people don't have to struggle with. His wife died right next to him at the age of 24 yrs. old only about a year before this incident happened. He was obviously super depressed & was a bit lost in how to deal with it. The last time I saw him.. all he could talk about was his wife. She was too young to die. He woke up and he looked next to her.. and saw her lying on her stomach on the floor. She had been over weight.. and probably tried to get up to go to the restroom.. and her ribs crushed her lungs.
Mike went into a depression and most of us believe he just wanted to get away from everyone.. in this case.. for some strange reason he chose to go to jail.
Maybe he was afraid of committing suicide or something.. and he thought he had to be under the care of a higher authority.. who knows?
But.. I can tell you this... he's not an idiot.
Sincerely,
A Friend of Mike Garibay.
Mike is my uncle. By marriage. His wife, Misty, was my aunt. We all miss her. He had issues and when she died... it was catastrophic. Not just to him, but to all of my family. I miss her. :'( I can't imagine how Uncle Mike must feel... The last time I saw him.. I was soo little.... I miss him. :'( He was a good person, he sold the cop drugs to get some help in jail.. He is by NO means stupid.
